Community Mapping

A geographic information system (GIS) can create, manage, analyze and map many types of data. With GIS and other mapping technologies, you can create a map of an area and overlay open data on it spatially to reveal enriching new insights. Your challenge is to create a map that incorporates open scientific data to explore how a problem in Your community is shaped by the surrounding physical geography. Maybe you are concerned about food deserts and want to analyze the location of supermarkets in your neighborhood? Or perhaps you want to explore the impacts of pollution in the local water supply? There is so much room for opportunity — all you need to do is map them!

About Us

Panorama Geo: Real-Time Geospatial Monitoring in the Fight Against Criminal Wildfires

Our GIS system - Panorama Geo, although it uses fires as a case study, is highly versatile and can be applied in different areas. In the case of fires, the system allows the population to make reports in real time, with data captured, georeferenced and displayed instantly, allowing environmental agencies to make quick and accurate decisions. This same technology can be applied to public health, to monitor outbreaks of endemic diseases; to security, to identify crime spots; and to agribusiness, for reports of pests such as caterpillars. The system uses PostgreSQL, PostGIS and GeoServer, with an intuitive interface in PHP with Leaflet and satellite images, in addition to integrating external geospatial information, providing a clear and precise vision for quick actions in any sector.

ACCESS NOW!

Real-Time Monitoring for Various Areas

With PostgreSQL, PostGIS and GeoServer intermediating the management of spatial data, the GIS captures and processes data in real time. Reports and geographic information are stored in the database and displayed in the system developed in PHP with Leaflet, which also uses satellite images. This allows accurate and quick visualization of fires and can be applied to other topics such as outbreaks of endemic diseases, crimes and pests in agribusiness, providing efficient monitoring for the responsible bodies.

Agile Decisions and Decision Making

GIS facilitates quick decision making, especially in critical cases such as criminal fires. When the population reports a fire, the information is captured and georeferenced in real time, allowing control bodies to act immediately.

Integration of Historical Data and Predictive Analysis

The GIS stores historical fire data, allowing the identification of areas with a higher incidence of fires, especially criminal fires. Based on this data, it is possible to carry out predictive analyses, helping control bodies to predict new outbreaks in risk areas and plan preventive actions. Furthermore, the crossing of historical data with new occurrences helps to identify patterns of criminal activities, directing preventive and mitigating actions more efficiently and accurately. This reduces environmental damage and strengthens the fight against environmental crimes.

Versatility and Accessibility

The platform allows the upload of several layers of geospatial data, such as KML, GeoJSON and shapefile files, enriching the GIS with detailed information. This facilitates the crossing of data from different sources, allowing an even more precise and personalized analysis of each situation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly does it do?

Panorama Geo is a Geographic Information System (GIS) that excels at monitoring criminal wildfires in real-time. It allows the public to report fire outbreaks, with this information being captured, georeferenced, and immediately displayed to environmental control agencies. The system also integrates historical data on wildfires, facilitating pattern analysis and identifying areas at higher risk for future fires. Additionally, it can be applied to other sectors like monitoring disease outbreaks, public safety, and agricultural pests.

How does it work?

The system collects real-time data through public reports via an app, sensors, or external data layers (KML, GeoJSON, Shapefiles). Using PostgreSQL with the PostGIS extension, these geospatial data are stored and processed. GeoServer distributes the data, and a web interface built with PHP and Leaflet displays the information on interactive maps, overlaying layers to enable real-time wildfire monitoring. Historical data are cross-referenced for predictive analysis, helping to identify high-risk areas.

What are the benefits?

Real-Time Wildfire Monitoring: Environmental agencies can act swiftly by receiving instant reports of wildfires, georeferenced and visualized on clear maps. Quick and Informed Decision-Making: The system facilitates fast decisions based on accurate data, preventing fire spread and minimizing environmental damage. Predictive Wildfire Analysis: The cross-referencing of historical data with new occurrences helps identify fire-prone areas, enabling preventive measures. Versatile Application: Although initially focused on wildfires, the system can be applied to public health (monitoring disease outbreaks), security (crime mapping), and agribusiness (pest outbreaks). Active Public Participation: Through real-time reporting, the public directly contributes to combating wildfires, enhancing monitoring efficiency. What do you hope to achieve? The primary goal of Panorama Geo is to improve the response to criminal wildfires, a growing issue in many regions. By facilitating real-time reporting and precise monitoring, we aim to prevent environmental disasters and ensure authorities act quickly and effectively. Additionally, we want the system to showcase how technology can unite the public and control agencies to protect the environment, with applications in other sectors like health and public safety.
